From Revenge to Renewed

I forgot to mention one little itty bitty detail in my last post: I was fresh out of a relationship. Yes, girl. As if COVID didn’t already suck, my long distance but very real relationship was really over. He called me on the phone and hit me with the whole “its not you, its me… i cant do distance anymore” spiel and I pretty much stopped listening right then. I did what any girl would do in that situation… I went right to Apple Music and searched “Breakup Playlist Essentials” and got ready to belt Taylor Swift’s “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” at the top of my lungs on repeat. My best friend called me to tell me that she had bought some Instagram fitness influencer’s workout program and asked if I would hold her accountable. That’s when it hit me. I would lose some weight! I decided to get my revenge body on… after all, it was the beginning of April and i had time to lose a few pounds by summer. So this is what I did….

  1. I found my why and made up my mind on why I had to follow through. Now I will admit my first reason was super shallow. Wanting to get fit just to say “ha! eat your heart out, boy” is not a good plan. Because honestly, you could lose the weight, get in the best shape of your life and said boy still not want you. And that’s okay! But find your why and keep it in the front of your mind. Personally, I had
  2. I created small, realistic goals. I knew that I was not going from the couch to a 5K in one week without seriously injuring myself, so I started with quick little 15 minute sweat sessions. A walk around my apartment complex, a quick stretching video on Youtube, (Yoga with Adrienne is the best!)
  3. I clapped like crazy when I made it through a workout, and if I didn’t make it that day, I didn’t beat myself up about it. After all, we are STILL in a global pandemic.

The bottom line is this: You get one body, one life. Love it and it will love you back. What are you doing to show yourself love today? How are you starting?

Until next time,
